6-16-38 Quercus alba L. G 339; BvB I 622; Hough 164 No flor fs. Easternmost tree on front lawn. Has all lobes glabrous beneath tho (20x) very slint scattered hairs visible. 6-16-38 Quercus Prinus L. G 341; BvB 624; Hough 176 No flor fs. Western edge of front lawn. lf. exactly like larger ones ill (Hough). Pubescence beneath very fine but evident to eye v touch. Bark so very like d. alba that R.B.K. can not distinguish. Has above glabrous. 6-16-38?? Quercus Muhlenbergii Engelm G 341; BvB I 624 = Q. acuminata Hougha Hough 178 No flor fs. At left hand cor of walk v drive. Perhaps this is form ? Q. Prinus but differs in having lvs sharper doothed, every one with scattered stellate hairs above. Much more definitely downy pubescent beneath. Very like ill glazet lf (Hough). None as proportionately narrow as ill (903, n Keeler 342) N.B. Keeler 340 as do similarity. 6-16-38? Quercus rubra L. G 344; BvB I 617; Hough 138 Tree nearest guest-room west window. lf. glabrous except for stray brown tomentum in axils beneath. lf. yellowish green beneath veining (diff from the other 3 ape); also very like ill (Hough v Keeler).
