Many spec V. palmata v V. filoba have been observed and plants are quite distinct as to fr, tho RB could not hope to distinguish fle. NB Smaller white fleshy appendage on seed. 6-16-38 Fraxinus nigra Marsh G 651; BvB# 727; Hough 384. No fla fr. Several small trees in woods opp front of house, standing near white ash (for comparison). No fls collected but as usual, toothed lfts clearly discernible. Bark not at all like Famer. icana [6-17-38 Twig col in woods NB a few hairs on vein beneath; each with very narrow erect ridges or wings; young twig with purplish dots or lashes. 6-16-38 Agropyron repens L G 166; BvB# 289 Bud with lolium. Blade wider v bluer than L v some bits nerve when held agunst light more distinct than others about 2 on each side Bund rib, y[illegible] with [illegible] 6-16-38 Lolium multiflorum Lam G 165; BvB# 282 fl. South edge of drive opp front of house in profusion. The short glumes, awned lemmas vls complete in bud make ident sure. Seill Hitchcock. 103 yellowish green.
