No glands at base of lf or on teeth [7-13-38 N.B.] from new growth differ from these old growth: much more finely toothed, glands at base of blade, woolly on under side, v petioles much less flattened. 6-9-38 Populus deltoides Marsh G 329; BvBI 590; Hough 94 (B.MzC.P. 226 says this is P. balsamifera Schinnacus) No fls fr. Only young trees observed as far. The 2 glands at junction of blade & petiole distinct to eye. Petioles v lower part & mid-rib reddish. (5-5-34 Near Bouveret Suisse very likely the same) [7-10-38 Newer trees often angular-ridge v last years growth, often with narrow slight cordy almost string like ridges 6-9-38 Carex eburnea Boott G 240; BvBI 396 Alw. fr. Along north edge of drive. Exactly as here v ill. Fr spikes very inconspicuous. Fr now olive-green. Bract sheaths
