6-9-38 sheaths sometimes open at top. [7-25-38 F2. ripe black valining 6-9-38 Equisetum In sand, roadside southward No ap. but general looks pointed tip seems to align positively in which group this belongs. Sts 6-10 in high x 3-3.5mm diam Centrum only a little more than .5mm diam less than stem. Sheaths lie close to stem, not at all loose at top so they can be little if at all, widened upward. Lowest sheath has broadside black girdle at base v narrower near at top (white band between), the slender acuminate teeth white or with dark based edged with white. Above lowest node, teeth have fallen, sheath is green (a little paler v more tan-ish) than stem) the ridges tipped black as so make a very narrow crenate--v dark line at top of sheath. Cross section got looks most like ill G1 G E. hyemale v intermedium, the inside wall of st. being very thin and the holes elongated rather than round. Ridges got roughish (not obviously "triangulate (G51)" but if the white dots are ciles. then "silex | grooves in rosculae" (G51). Conclusion E. hyemale h. mae affine A.A.Easton G 53 probrie in E. hyemale h. BvBET4/ is best guess. Sts several from one root spreading v curled upward.
