7-28-38 Gentiana crinita Froel. G656; BvB#9 wet place south of drive. Very early bud. (Too young to identify if plant had not been known.) 7-28-38 Tsuga canadensis Carr. G66; BvBI 62 No. fl. fr. Large tree in woods south of house v east of old quarry. Common at Kilwood. 7-28-38 Parnassia caroliniana Michx. G449; BvVII 212 Bud. Common in damp spots near drive v else- where. The 3 stont staminodia [or the 3 cleffs scale] visible (20 x). Seen in fl. 1935) 7-28-38 Geum flavum Dicknell G485; BvBI 370 fl. adv. fr. Woods bet. house v south boundary. Petals so inconspicuous R.B.K. did not notice them v. collected plant to study for thinking it prob. G. strictum. Petals 2.7 x1 mm (only about half as long as calyx), pale, cream colored, the veins con- tributing a hint of green. Receptacle bristly hairy. Style glabrous from joint to base. St. 1/2 in high, slender. Petioles v at below ligate with rattlesnint hairs. St. above softly downy. Largest stipule 1x0.5 cm, deeply forked or cleft.
