7-28-38 Eupatorium purpureum L. G 782; BVB III 357 Fl. Woods south glouse. Infl. pyramidal. Bracts v corolla very pale (from color) but one might ex- pect flo to be white.) tinged pinalicle. The purple antlers give pleasing variegated look infl. This is very different from pre-Pye Weed R.B. (the known type which, as previously considered, was var. maculatum Desr.) Sts. smooth, slender, green. tho' not a few hairs with purple tinge at nodes. Levs thin, smooth verscentally glabrescent, pubescent beneath. (The E. not wholly so unlike buds Col 7-13-38 in woods near Baulsons Spring was prob. this.) [See 7-29-38 for comparison with E. 7-28-38? Aster divaricatus L. G 803; BVB III 409 Bud opening, Woods south glouse. St 1/4 thigle, smooth, somewhat zig-gag, lower-half purplish. Bracts as desc. The ovrd of this bud promises it will not be slender cylindric as in A. Schreberi 87-26. (Cfd with plant near "rock-garden" which Mrs Dean thought would be "wild agetami". Seems the same) 7-28-38 Lobelia siphilitica L. G 768 = L. syphilifica L. Bv BIII [illegible] 301 Early bud. Appendage to calyx sinuses apparent (20x).
