Mr. G on 4-17-39 named similar spce.- observed only at Garden Club.) Seeds sometimes 8 or 9 [5-25-39] Flourspe fr. San Pasqual Grade. 5-1-39 Uropappus Lindleyi Nutt J 993: Microseris —Gray M 586 Fr. v fr. Nedrabove. Cf Nutt U. linearis- foliaca [4-24-39]. Diff in evident: achene brown (instead of black), thicker & not narrowed towards lip. Pappus strongly persistent (instead of all too readily deciduous) & makes head & fruit def light brown (instead of silvery white). To depth 2 notch in paleae U.l.- is a triple shorter [T] only but looks shorter because the head & paleae are less delicately slender than in U. l.— Ave overall about 5mm.; body of palea (w/ tips of teeth) about 7 mm. (So probably var. Clevelandii). Beets rounded on back so that invol more corrugated (vertically) while U.l. in- volvecre is smooth.
