Fl. Bet Crystal Pies v Loring St. Gners based on prostrate sts. (part col. does not show "suffrutescent" opp. lvs., white scurf, v only ? fl from plant. [i.e. in part col.] & red v white scurf gives it a spotted appearance. lvs [to eye] look encrusted with silvery scurf; (20x) no green visible bet. particles of scurf. (W.B in ??? A. californica lvs. much greener in hue, the particles of scurf separ. ately visible to eye and (20x) look like little globules with the green of very distinct bet. particles). BRACTS not now united to middle v broadest just below that point. ? flo solitary in axils of lvs which are tiny also the beginnings of new branches. In all opp. lvs. 14x7 mm. (??? A.
