3-23-39 ?? Brickellia californica T.v.G.J1017; B.- Gray M511 Old fs (more less delapidated?) v new hs. Prsb near Salix. Discoid heads "style branches thickened upward, obtuse" suggests Eupatorizee. In this tribe (M505) B. is only found in one plant. "Incorseous dotted" Infl seems to have been paniculate. Ill F292 (M) suggests our plant. Ident very likely correct but data too slight to be sure. 3-23-39? Baccharis virginea DC.J1060; M536 FL D v 2 Perhaps near Salix. Dr H collected the D spec; P.B & the F spec but does not remember how near together they were found. A to if they seem same species (see 3-6-39) loss as disc for 3-6-39 except that their green is more "lustrous" than "dull" v looks as this they might be glutin- ous altho they don't feel so. Pappus (20x) D & fle "minutely scabrous"(M) but that of D fle def. scabrosa (M says "nearly smooth"). Infls ill (M). P.B still does not think this likely to be B.glutinosa. H 3-23-39 Phlea ovata Wats J609; M203 FL Lake Hodges. Near Perry at point where we turned back. (See 12-29-38) (Fine specimen which must have been at least 10 ft high growing by Torrey Pines Lodge 3-11-39) 3-23-39 Gutierrezia californica T.v.G.J1019; M516
