3-23-39? Quercus agrifolia Née var. oxyadenia J.T. Howell M109. Fl vew lob. Opposed from willow. Only one leaf for spec(when studied) none esp. noticed when collected. Could not have been enough on tree to make it easily recognizable) but that one or several new lob which look full grown very like D. J 2-25, like ill(F) v deaco. None of the deciduous oaks (M) will do. Only other species which seem pos are D. chrysolepis or D. Palmeri. 3-23-39 Lotus Some perhaps all found ± near Salix. (A) Fl young fr. Fl solitary on slender ped.(shorter than lf.) Pods same as ?? L. strigosus Greene ) 3-2-39 [See L. strigosus ] 5-1-39 from same regions 3-23-39 and R.B.K.thinks surely the same. (B) Fl veld fr. Fl 2-3 (bract of lf) or ped. equal to or shorter than subtending lf. Pods straight, now- globous 2.5cm long,beak curved toward the edge opp.to the placenta. Does that mean "recurved" (M 256)? If so is this L. calanjinous Greene J 557; M 258 lvs slightly thick. Ill(M) fairly good, except lvs pape more obtuse than ill. Sts (at least sometimes) has some decumbent, traveling habits as L ) 3-6-39 thought them to be L. Nuttallianus. [See 5-10-39
