3-23-39 ?? Phacelia hispida Gray J823; M409 Fl x very young frs. Prob near Salix or shortly toward the west. Using Moley this seems surely I; AA, B, C; Nos. 12-18. 11-16, the choice lying bet. P. hispida and P. lamossima (very different? from) Dough J F 3; M 4/10. Our plant might be annual or perennial. Herbage not "oily in appearance" (M) to R. B. T. nor as dense for P. s- in M. St now 1/2 high but other sts (or branches) forming at very base. Sts, petioles, racem & calyx very hispid (as for Ph-) but also gland-fout (not mentioned in M. or T). Lvs as erect (?) for Ph- with incised lfts quite distinct (M's disc puzling) Calyx lobes very narrow, linear. Corolla def. lavender, (the pale) 9-10 mm wide. Scalesample & ruffy seem attached to filament & corolla tube. Ovary very hispid on upper part with a different hairs. Ovarles 2. Stamens well (not long) exerted. 3-23-39 Phacelia Paryji Torr. J818; M408 Fl. Prob near above. No pos question ident. 3-23-39 Emmenantha penduliflora Benth J831; M 4/13 Fl. Prob with above. Exactly as desc will except that one might not suspect it was "scorpioid". 3-23-39 Lupinus lirsantissimus Benth J 023; M 249 Fl adv. frs. Bet. Del Mas v Ranchos Santa Fe'.
