Linaria canadensis Dum var Texana Pennell M461 See L. Canadensis J. 901; G720 Paul & unipae fr. Locus not remembered. Annual, very slender, almost spindle makelst. with terminal few-fls raceme. Ovary superior, 2-celled, with many tuberculate ovules on both placentae. Calyx 5-parted to base, sepals narrow 2-3mm long. Lf. arrangement (same on the 2 speci. col.); whorl of 3 below middle fat; 1 solitary lf about ½ an higher; 2 opp at about ¼ in higher; bracts and tendng fls. Lf very narrowly linear or linear-spatulate, 5mm along. Only one spec. col. with root. At its base a delicate proeminent shoot with opp. blades (i.e. 1.5mm broad) &o. Difficulty in ident lies in corolla: blue, gamopetalous, somewhat lobed at apex, bearing 4 stamens, 2mm long, found off as withered remains as ovary grows. No spur or general look of Linaria. If our plant is L. c - these might be "reduced or cleistogamous fls" (G) Plant glabrous throughout. Fruiting portions looks as though R.B.T should recognize it, but she does not. [3-20-39 F.L.
