3-9-39 as S.n 3-11 but corolla lobed half its length (S.X - is angulate but not lobed). Pedicels/pedicuncles (relative length) in the 2 species tend to be similar. S.S - does suggest S. nigrum in general aspect but corollas are 1.5-2 cndiam and def. folded-purple (not "white" (M)) this is not the dark rich shade of S.X -. Plant yellow green (as S.n - is remembered) not the rich dark green of S.X -. But plant also more nearly glabrous than disc suggest 3-23-39 F.roadv. fr. leaves no doubt? ident # 3-9-39 Gnaphalium Fl. with Erigeron asperum. (See G. bicol. of 3-2-39) Thought when col. to be G. bicol. very like spec. 3-2-39 with which cf'd, but all bron branch let. still white woolly above (this less so than beneath) x less def. auriculate than 3-2-39. (If "heritage permanently tormented" this might? would be G. microcephalum Nutt J1067, M542. But I'm not at all "oblanceolate to spathulate"(M). Note diff. bet desc. of (T) v(M) and livd G.m - [See also G. of 3-23-39 3-9-89 Umbelliferae Fl. Inland Route. It's now finer less tall, but almost basal. Plant pubescent throughout, but finely dissected. This with locus v general look of plant (esp. like Fig 706-T) suggests pos.?
