Fr. Pine Valley. Lf 9 is very like ill (J). Fr. not like ill (McM) [see 3-23-39 2-25-39 Pinus ponderosa Douglas Jeffreyi Vasey J47; M16 = P. Jeffreyi Muell. McM 90 Lvs fallen cones (no seeds) Pine Valley. (Ident by Mr G). Lvs in 3's gray-green, to 7in long. Bark reddish. All trees drilled with holes in which an acorn of Q. agrifolia var. oxyadenia had been stored. [see 5-20-39 2-25-39 Pinus Coulteri D. Don J48; M17; McM 90 Cones only seen outside "rest room" at Pine Valley. (Ident by Mr G) "Spur-like projection on scales very obvious. Ill (McM) good. No information as to where cones grew. J11 39 2-25-39 ? Artemisia tridentata Nutt. var augusti- folia Gray M574 No fr. fr. Field at Pine Valley. [A co. to Miss — Mr G. had printed this out as "Sagebrush"] J.A. then species prod. correct. Foliage very like lvs v ill (J) lvs (now) 15 x 4 mm, very aromatic [? 7-28-39 Bur. Sorrento Rd., in hills. Bud's young fr ident but lvs shape infl. v dos correct.] 2-28-39 Dendromecon rigida Beetle J401; M180 Fr v very young fr Hill just 20. [? Del Mar [7-28-39 Fr. Sorrento Rd] seeds spherical, softly hairy, pitted, provided with "carmelo" Carmelo a conspicuous curlion effect.
