paniculate. Invol 10-12 mm high, the 4-5 outer filaceous bracts (very like uppermost lobes of involucre?) longer. Thin Mong this is prof. var sessiliflora Gray T1063; M518' (But M does not mention odor a glands and achenes tho'seely-hairy are not "densely villous" nor are scales of outer pappus "concealed" as desc. T) Scales? outer pappus ± .5 mm long & plain to see (20X) Could this be var. campestrata Jepso1036 not given for this vicinity. 8-8-39 Corethrogyne filaginifolia Nutt. var. Fl. Various places along rd from Moreno to #395 and on # 395 or Kearny Mesa. Cfd with C. ?7-28 and 8-4-39. Invol about 6 mm high, Glands about as in 8-4 (possi- bly somewhat shorter & pilate but not defas.) Toment -um practically all gone from upper parts of plant. Only diff bet. this and 8-4 are that 8-4 has invol higher clearer (to9d.10mm) with few, widely ascending branches near top just while 8-8-39 is sometimes much branched with glandu ascending or ± divaricate branches. Heads of neither hemispheric. R.B.T suspects these and also C. ?6-14-39 may be var rigida Gray T1043 = var. virgate Gray M528 8-8-39 Baccharis Off Rd from Presidio Bridge leading toward #395.
