6-17-39 Artemisia Palmeri Gray T 1134; M 575. Bud. Sorrento Rd. Shortly no. J R.R. crossing. Styles broad & divided (2x). Marginal flo perfect. (Irontheill MS) A. Douglasiana Bess 6-17-39 Oenothera Hookeri T V G T 681; M 339 Ft. Sorrento Rd., stretch along R.R. Petals 4 cm long (very showy). Oricles strongly angled. 6-17-39 Holcus halipensis L. T 144; B.M.J.E.P. 105; Bull 972 p said. 267: Sorghum halipense Pers. M 30; G 95 Fl. Same region as Oenothera. No question identic but hard to arrange because char. arrangement of leasile v pedicellate flo easily overlooked. No awn found (at S). B.M.J.E.P. says "usually awnless or not prominently awned". Bull 972 says "awned & awnless" but shows awns in all as does (T). Inside the 2 firms, indurated glumes, A.B.K. finds only 2 delicate hyaline members (ie sterile v fertile lemmas but no palea found or fertile lemma v palea found but no strib lemma.) 6-17-39 Foeniculum vulgare Gaertn T 717; M 355 = F. - Hill G 616; B.M.J.E.P. 564. Fl. Sorrento Rd. Very common around L-J.
