Filaments glabrous Sac glower lip fully 3mm deep. Heads Infl. Compact, prob not more than 4-5 fld. Corolla & Bracts not like illin (Watt) of D. purpurea but general aspects of plant not as D. p — is remembered. But spec is so inadequate idntas O.d-neg— must be queried. 5-7-39? Atriplex semibaccata R. Bron. J325; M138/FLV fr. Pacific Beach vacant lot. This is the A. which sprawls in abundance over curbs on R.B.K.'s practice grounds. Fr.-bracts red, fleshy v def. semi-baccata appearance but no veins show on exterior (fr now falling with ripe alene inside). When flesh removed the foundation structure is found to be strangely reticulate veined with 3-5 still stronger veins from base, the mid-vein somewhat atripe like at bract (no sign of this "stripe" [T] when flesh on foundation. Now well covered with scurf-scales below, only a few on upper surface. Fr in 10,2's or sometimes 3's in axils. Tips of each branch bears a compact tiny glomerule of 5 flo, often with 10-2 p wtth them. R.B.K. considers this ident prob correct. Note: bracts often show no flesh-lines until ½ mature dimensions. (Paws one of the 10.) 4-4-39 in boths). Note: Bracts in earlier stages unite to middle — in earlier stages easily separated above middle, later so tightly closed that they appear
