We visited the art school nearby, where the students made copies of painting nude models by mere lines to make heavy dark shades sexual organs represented as in life apparently these arts do not tolerate any false modesty in their work. The people about town were two thirds of negro blood or admixture & the complexion was apple decelerly brown or chocolate coffee colored. This is in marked contrast to the blond European appearance of Argentine Chile Uruguay. The wealth of the country consists chiefly in coffee, cattle are few as well as are the grains for commercial value.
