Fort Simpson R.C. Aug 6 Arrived Here last evening just before dark. Today after getting located. I put out and set quite a line of traps along a small stream south of the village Did not see many birds Shot some juncos. Aug 7 Caught nothing in my Traps but shot a number of birds and set many more traps. Aug 8. Got a small catch of Sorex & Peromyscus. Aug 9. Very poor success with traps the only specimen of importance being a Eruptomys. Set more traps in the vicinity and changed the proliferis of many. Cloudy all day with slight rains. Aug 10 Got quite a good catch of Sorex & Peromyscus nearly all caught. in rank grass in clearings Rest many traps Very few birds observed. Rained nearly all day. Aug 11. A few Sorex & Peromyscus. Rainy nearly all day. Reset some of my traps. Saw and shot at a very small mouse with a lot of white underneath It escaped. Body rounded into a foul of boards.
