Mr Vernon Nash 13 June 20. wrote nearly all day on Neat Day reports. In the late afternoon went into the woods observing about 20 species of birds I saw a sercch and about duck June 21. Put out a good many traps for shrews. about a mile and a half north of town near the railroad. Aplodontia murray very common Many muskrats in the streams and ditches beside railroad. Shot a number of birds June 22. Caught but one shrew and an aplodontia and Peromyscus avidably two species. Set more traps particularly for shrews. June 23. Got a good catch of Shrews also Peromyscus and Aplodontia and shot a number of birds Killed a Bared owl which flew toward me in response to squeaking and lit so near that I killed it with my axe June 24. Did not have as good success with traps but shot a number of desirable birds. Reset many of my traps for shrews etc. June 25. Caught a number of shrews and a Neurotrichus. The latter was taken in a snare trap set in a sewerage partly beneath a log
