Weak Bay trash June 7. Got a few mammals in my traps. Also caught a small ruffed grouse in one of my mouse traps and found a young rabbit dead in the brush. June 8. Got a female mink near the shore several miles east of the Bay. It was mucky. Also got a fair catch of small mammals. June 9. Killed a Herpynotichla near the shore east of the bay. It was hopping along the rocks near the water; and is the only one I have seen. They are called "Burr Robins" by the inhabitants. June 10. Went to Maddah Island in the Bay where I shot a number of birds, including a fox sparrow. There were two wonderfully a pair. Saw a large number of humming birds on the island in a small field where there were many "Indican pruts" growing. There were apparently dozens of them; and I could not see a single mole bird among them. I killed 3. June 11. Killed some crossbills of a flock and a sharp shinned hawk as it was trying to catch a young grouse. Poor Success with traps.
