Great Bay Nash 10 Cormorants. There seemed to be a few. Guilelmots nesting on the cliffs. He also saw. Dory sparrows and barn swallows. In considerable abundance. in the Island A great horned owl was being worried by some crows but I was unable to get him. As there were no trees on the Island. with the exception of one or two stunted ones. Land birds were few in number. Mr. Young killed an oyster catcher and a Ring billed Gull on the rocks Both evidently breed on the Island or vicinity. June 3. Poor success with traps. Took up many and changed them to other locations. Shot a few birds. June 4. Reset other traps. and shot a few birds. June 5. Shot a few birds and caught a few mammals. Roved all the afternoon. Found a nest of the hairy Woodpecker in a stub is a clearing. It was about 20 feet from the ground and contained young. June 6. Got a few shrews in my traps and changed some of them.
