Heal Bay May 25. Did not have much success with any traps and changed a lot of them to new places that Euphonia near the beach to the west of the village. May 26. Went out to the Ocean beach across the point. Found a nest of Colaptes and killed the female bird but could not get the male bird. Shot a ruffed grouse and several other birds May 27. Went over to the Ocean beach again and took the Flickers egg. The nest was in a large decayed stub about 15 feet above the ground. The cavity was about 18 inches deep. While tramping through a piece of swampy ground, grown up to small trees. I flushed a f. Hel- smithophila from her nest. I shot the bird and took the nest containing four eggs. The nest was in a large bunch of moos about 18 inches above the ground which was very wet at that point. On blotting the eggs proved to be about one- third incubated. On the way back killed Columba fasciata. and a Thrush [illegible]
