Barclay. Wasatch Mts. 4 May 1st Took the 8 am. train on the Utah Central for Barclay where we arrived shortly after 9 o'clock Secured board after some trouble with the people at the station house. In the afternoon set traps and shot a few chipmunks and one S. Castanarius. near the ridge north of the rail road. S. armatus very common. Shot. Dendragapus and Bousa May 2. Made a small catch but nothing of much importance. set loose traps. May 3. Caught an Eustonup in Buck trust. in Caum a little below Barclay. Also took Microtus in the same place Next up the Caum from the "back- switch" below Barclay. 3 or 4 miles to Mr. Bullock's place. Got a boy to go out with me to try to get some rabbits but was unsuccessful. Saw fresh tracks of Lepus & Lynx and started a bear from its bed beneath a fritter. Shot a weasel near the "back switch" and some chipmunks and spermophiles in the Caum Got 250 species of chipmunks. The common small one and a large one piled up the Caum at an approxi- mate altitude of 7500 feet.
