white with black edges like Bonin Island Petrel erratic fast wing beats
like a chimmey swift, interspersed with level glides - didn't look loke
Bonin Island Petrel wings held stiffer than storm petrel - dorsal
surface all dark incl. rump. ventral surface of body? - (W. R.) I
didn't see bird .. Warren now thinks it as Audubon Shearwater.
1623 - Whale - 1 - 2000 yards starboard - broke surface twice (currier).
1628 - Wedgetail - 1 SE
1628 - Harcourt's Storm Petrel 1 SE
1724 - Wedgetail - 1 SE
1728 - " 1 SE
1850 - Secured bird watch.
Were told today that we could shoot and even use whaleboat.

Zosterops japonica FN0436 Captured alive on desk of yag 39 by Warren
King at 0730. Had apparently come aboard with No. 0437 previous evening
about 1730. ?, ovary 2 x 2 mm., no ova visible. weight 9 gms.
moderate fat. skull partly ossified. data and skin by Ely.
Soft part colors - eye pale yellow gray; toes and tarsus-dark
grey; upper madible black: lower mandible black at tip, remainder gray.
Molt - fresh plumage.

King at 0730. Had apparently come aboard with No. 0436 previous evening
about 1730. o, testes minute, weight 9 gms moderate fat. skull partly
ossified. data and skin by Ely.
