Wednesday March 6. Johnston and I took the stage Stour & and went up to Pelly 1.0 on the Gros Ventre. Had dinner there and went up the Gros Ventre Valley to Horseshoe Range station, with Albert Guthrie the ranger. We saw a few scattered bunches of elk on the side of the buttes all along in the main valley and along the north side of the Gros Ventre we saw a few probably not over 200 at the north. None in the bottom and very few males on the south side of the valley. We stopped for the night at the range station.
