Thursday March 7. We went up to the Red Pashman Reach 4 miles above the range cabin where a family man Grant (W.J.) was living and spent the afternoon lounging around. We saw a few small banks all along the slopes of the Red hills on the N. side of the Great Centre, a few near the Red Slate Blow Crystal Creek, a few in Crystal Creek Bottoms; along the ridges east of Crystal was a good sized bank. We went out to the Grownenter when we crossed Northam's Valley & Platte Creek. There was none at the bottom of the valley nor on the slopes bordering Platte Creek as far as we could see. On the bare hill sides about 10 miles farther were a few small banks, only a few dozen.
