both the roads westward up on
the hills. It follows in a general
way the state line about 12 miles,
from town we had lunch in the
Canyon of Leatherwood Creek. Then
is a very long hard hill out of
it. Then the road goes over the
falling hills and descends
after several miles into the
basin of McDermitt Creek Near an
around day ranches, We turned
northward up the main branch
and camped at the uppermost
ranch now owned by Miller
Clark The day was very
warm.
Thursday June 10. Disaster Peak
went up the canyon a short
distance and set treks in the
valleys, and along the cliffs.
The stream is bordered by impervious
triple thickets of willow, Alder,
Rose etc. The stream as oxped
and abouts in twist. Found
many birds nesting about the
meadows and on the cliffs
Friday June 11. It snowed
in the night, and the day was
very cold with rain or snow
nearly all day. Took a few
trips in my traps and
shot some birds. The day was
very unpleasant and not
successful.
