Saturday July 21. Near Riverside Zooh. Peromyscus leucopus, Prompusus + Microtus mordax Left Steel Springs early and on the road eastbound for a couple of miles to the main Valley - Burns road. Went down through a valley where a considerable amount of dry farming is going on. There is water at only one place (Shumway) when this is a windmill. Pocket Gopher signs very common. Saw one Brush rabbit near Creston. Shot a couple of rattlesnakes before rocky Creston. A little beyond parra mouse and caught it. A Lagurus. At a single reservoir in the hills for a number of waterbirds Beyond. Caught a smoothsnake (?) (Nessanak?) Two woodchucks seen near Skulls. Camped under Live a few miles before rocky Riverside A Lagurus in the stands gone Rattler rattlesnake Sunday Aug 1. To Riverside Down town to Riverside and to the Post-office but got no mail.
