Wednesday Sept 3 Site Tent Connally It rains all day and we move Do nothing but try to keep as Comfortable as possible. Thursday Sept 4 To near Smithsicut. We left about mid afternoon and join the True Connecticut River. About 4 pm down in the main fishing place of the Indians who are more busy at their Salmon Fishing We crossed Bear River to the west bank about 2 o'clock at about 7 miles and had known them have Ruffed Grouse only before as good perch and below from them quite common and saw several specimens. Fish also a 8 x 9 Spine grouse which seen to be unusually typical for the region. Camped rather late not far from the river
