Sun, Oct 3 Was so tired that I could not sleep much last night. Had some tea and went early, my ship board luxury and then tackled the Spaniard. Bad! two foils of water, one "sable" and one "white" and a small can painted red which I painted myself. Now wearing off my tired-to-death feeling and our reading the odds and ends of my papers and magazines and writing up my diary. One or two close to some very fascinating looking islands; rocky and wooded to the top; might be interesting botanically as they seemed uninhabited. It has been cloudy most of the day with occasional showers - a very restful sort of day. Sat out on deck after dinner and talked with Dr. Lennar, Col. Sharpe and a Mr. Beach, the only Americans aboard Row close to some lights here in the evening and during the day the Sir. Forbes passed us and we met the S.S. "Cuba" To bed seven after 8 on deck.
