Wed. Dec 1 Waz up at six and had tea & toast in my room, later a bath and breakfast. Put some driins out in the sun and then went up on the hill opposite to collect a fern which I had burned in the fire. Got into an awful jungle and was awfully tired when I got back. Put the plough in faren and changed driirs all the rest of the forenoon. Had some fairly good rain, and made progress in getting things in shape. Went up to the P.O and thus met one of my fellow passen- gers on the Ring Bals who in- vited me out to dinner but I had to decline. Had a sprinkle early in the P.M. Went to Darby and Co and bought my tickets to Sandlater; found that my boat is to be a little late. Took it easy in the P.M. and read "Catherine's Child" by Mrs Henry de la Parture. I was rather tired and went to bed at 10.
