160 Tues. Nov. 30 I was stirring early and had tea and work in my room. Opened up papers of [illegible] things, fixed up some laundry, wrote some cards, then to the P.O and took the 10 o'clock train to Gov. House paid my respects to the His Excell- ency J.W. Fraser the Kt. Gov. He loaned me his copy of Marmont's reports of the different ascents of Tirira Bals, brought the train back and they called on Mr. E.H. Barrett the Resident. They came to the Res House and put all my work clothes and traps out in the sun and from that time on I put in a very hard afternoon's work at my spec- imens and made quite a little progress. Went and did a little shop- ping and finished reading Marmont's reports. Tr[illegible] to write up my notes in the morning but I was so tired out that I gave it up and went to bed.
