136 Sun, Nov. 7 I was up before it was fairly light and looked after the breakfast; made a mess of the furnace and cranger which I had cooked. The Chaplain and I walked up to the newly made quarry on the hillside and then down the slope, then came back after Mrs. Clements and with three small boys we went up on the Gunnsloan Spur which we found most interesting and I brought back a lot of new ferns, saw some chestnuts and other new things. Got in at about 12 just ahead of the rain. I put my plants in press in the P.M., and changed all my drips. Then I looked after our chicken dinner which we had at about dark and then I came in at my front door and watched the lights fade in the west and the darkness come in until only my 3 cows was all that showed against the sky. Smoked cints into the darkness and then to bed.
