128 Oct. 30 Sat. I was up at six and went down to the river for my bath; we had an apology for a brisk fare and then we packed up and all left Barry together; I had to wade the river several time and then we climbed up some hills and kept on the rise much of the time; had some wonderful views of Tinea Balm along the way. I saw but very little in the plant line that I wanted to collect. We got to Kian at about one o'clock, a little sprinkle, the first rain we have had since we left Jeselton. I have spent all the afternoon in fixing up the house and getting things settled. I seem to be only 9 convinced so far as the columns are concerned. Hampoth the present chief and Lumpath and Laura called on us and showed their letters of recommendation. We had dinner by candle light and I soon went to bed.
