Thurs, Oct 31 Turned around a little in the morning but had to be cautious as I had on my last white suit. At ten the chaplain and I made our call on the Gov.-Gen.; found him a fine type of the Britisher; he was pleasant; gave us some maps of Rino Bala and a letter to the Resident. We walked home and my first collection was a member of the grape family. The chaplain stepped in to talk with the school masters and I did some collecting in a salt marsh where I got a Hyridocal and a Burmanicus. At three we called on the Resident and found him a very pleasant been showed sort of chap and offered to render us any help he could. Worked at my plants the rest of the day and collected a few things. At night Mrs. Clements and I indulged a part of Miss Gibbs report of Rino Bala. We had a fine view of Mt. Rino Bala from the Government Office.
