Brought up by parents at Manna, Kedron and born in
Sarabanda, near the College of Medicine.
Initial observations:
- Treated with anti-malarials (chloroquine) for 2 weeks before arrival.
- No history of malaria in family.
- Weight: 45 kg. Height: 160 cm.
- Blood pressure: 120/80 mm Hg.
- Pulse: 72 bpm. Temperature: 37°C.
- Heart: Regular rate and rhythm. S1 and S2 present. No murmurs.
- Lungs: Clear to auscultation. No crackles or wheezes.
- Abdomen: Soft, non-tender. No hepatomegaly or splenomegaly.
- Extremities: No edema. Capillary refill time < 2 seconds.
- Skin: Pale with no jaundice. No petechiae or purpura.
- Neurological: Alert and oriented. Cranial nerves intact.
Motor strength 5/5 in all extremities. Normal reflexes.
- Laboratory:
- Hemoglobin: 12.5 g/dL
- WBC: 6.8 x 10^3/µL
- Platelets: 250,000/µL
- MCV: 78 fL
- ESR: 20 mm/hr
- Chest X-ray: Normal.
- ECG: Sinus rhythm. No ST-T changes.
No history of diabetes mellitus or hypertension.
