C55 67-11 Carol J James Devil's Hole, DVNM, Ash Meadows, Nye Co., Nevada 17 September 1967 1345 - 1830 hrs. DS Carol James & C.W. Joy Stopped at Manse Ranch Spring and put in traps before coming to Devil's Hole. See Culley MST#2 Initial observations: Weather - Partly cloudy. Wind to Jomphalow. (Gusts to ~10mph in hole) General Condition - Algae not as abundant as noted in C55 67-18.(fewer) "mountains" of algae on NE sloping rock of upper shelf. Scum abundant and heavy looking. over upper shelf & extreme N of hole Activity - 120-150 fish on shelf. Activity moderate. Some chasing but only casual. Several fish quite inactive. Majority are adults, although there are many juvenile and young also. 1400hrs - Can see down to 50'. Water level 1.82 Shadows over extreme 1½-2' of western side of shelf.
