California Quail. June 16. Strawberry Canyon. Glendale, ca. the entire clearing, which is in C-5 [illegible] (20 or 30) A series of five can be seen in the canyon at 1:30 P.M. It is not to be expected that any will appear at this time. In the late afternoon a few are visible in the canyon, but they are very few. It is possible that they may have been seen at dawn. I saw one in the early morning at 5:30 A.M. on June 17th. June 16. Strawberry Canyon. Glendale, ca. A male was found dead on a rock in the clearing. It is not known whether it was killed by a predator or died of natural causes. The body was found at 1:30 P.M. In the late afternoon another male was seen in the canyon.
