on pear on Year ave. Few very wild larks. Feb. 11. C. Nauman had olive in coops at store, 2 wild swans, lot brand's white-fronted snow geese. The last geese in some case were mottled as if crossed with white-fronted. All were tame. Evidently unnered! Feb 23. Shot a - - crowned spar- row near my house. Sides of crown chestnut-brown. Entire of crown neither, yellow nor white. Bird rather under size. Didn't fall well enough to make skin before too old. Shot another & a D Towhee that were not killed. #22-shot-cartridge. Larks & Flickers appear to mate this month. Mar 15. Saw a varied Robin & a Bufflehead. Thrush, mates respectively for season about 6 X 2. Also a Vigor wren, chattering harshly. Plain Tits must have eggs, but, Don't locate nets. Flickers been "chuckling" like
