hawks for about 3 weeks.
Mar21. Saw a pair Ruf. Hems.
Think building. Obtained a 6 ft. view
of "I" setting on dead twig of cypress
(S. side) of one rr. of one opp. trmis,
& he looked guilty as he sat several
seconds. Plenty of Purp. Finch
notes heard lately, a short, pleasing
"Bluebird" purr. A few days re-
maining to breed. Bryant re-
ports, taking Rufous-grown Spar. 3x2, & Lut. W.
common. D. Towhees mated &
uttering their "Chirrr" vseldom
"Chewee". These & the Calif. are
late to roost. House Finch here
sparsingly. A record (S. F. Ex-
aminer, last week) of a Cal. Vult.
were larewed in a gorged condition
near Chico. Am sure I heard
Chip. Sparrows on 20th. & perhaps
a song or two I didn't recognize
were some species of Warblers. Saw
a Sam.? Song Spar. one day last
