69 2 or 3 of outloids but was waiting for them to lay, scattered, Vale rose but ones that was far out. Another big band: roses after these, from near corner of orchard by Gambalais. Got few feathers from 1 of 1st. band. Forgot losag, in squash just mentioned, dropped; quail never found him. None in squash N. off quail briars where I want 1st. this morn, but, on returning after ge shooting men- tioned, flushed about 10 here. There I got 3 hard shots lost. Found 1 dead under 2 small oats 2. of prickly oak on Smiths fence, that I shot last Sund. A sfs? hawk chasing larks S. of meadow. Hundreds of Lark continually rising spoilt Lark shooting by scaring them or rising so con- tinually as to confuse me firing Larks. Heard first Goldfinch? x this is several times this year here. Think I overlooked their notes pre- vious years.
