Dec. 9. Shot quail in pine & got a
lot of feathers, 2" got 1 male;
close range in pine & good condition.
Big flock flew from pines S. of car
rot patch into pines on F. T. road
& on my approach from oppos-
te side flew back again; didn't
follow them up. Lots larks in
mrcelow pasture but wary as usual
& they never fly over you any
more, but directly away from
you. Winged 1 also shot at
a flock back of my house. Ob-
servec hundred Titlarks in
meadows, especially around pools
of rain water & along edge of marsh.
They are like snipe as to choice
of fording grounds. Fired 3or
4 shots @ a grebe on water can't
kill the d. things. Also 1 at flock
of Butterball, 1 at a Carpian
Tron I think I hit all of these.
