2d. report 20 min looking for 39 the double only found 1. Crowell reports a female woodduck shot on salt marsh @ Pastine club last week. Lots jays & flickers in orchard but won't waste shot on them. A sps hawk around. Saw him slide into a flock of quail 5rv. days ago & they went crazy. 1 quail out of it shot last 2 days a cock & all young xcept 1 hen. Are plenty left. NOV 18 Shot a cock quail on run from cart & he twirled but recovered & flew just as dog got near. Lost 1 dark on wing 77 on set I got 1 on set. All in squash S. of unreadow. Spent 15 min. quit. Dec 6 Shot female Harris M. top of cypress by my back door. This is probably the one I shot at twice in OCT Nov. I saw at other times. Crowell shot an Osprey. DEC 7 at Alviso I gave it 2nd. bbl. @ close range (as he was afraid it would spoil his dog) shot it to pieces.
