in Aug early & late. 9/3 7:30 A.M. about 1,000, FREE Swallows on wires @ Alvarado & few Barn Cliffs. Coots in slough off bridge. Shrikes all along road in San Jose. 9/13 boy @ Alvarado says they are there daily. 9/9 Shot a male Plain Tit, moultting a young .. La. Tanagrr, craw full wasps - heads, wings, legs, bodies but no abdomans; probably rejected as poison string. Made Skins lot lunch. 9/10 Shot female W. M. Prewer & made skin next day. Saw a Brown- Black plumaged, white-backed Marsh hawk, slowly sailing over Waterside lever ya Sparrowhawk 25 ft over him all the white. Came soft of me. Had no gun. 9/11 Fired 4 shots @ a Max. Horn Lark, across canal & never killed him. 1 shot @ marsh sparrow. Killed a bald head & wall- aged jay in orchard. Vorn
