1894. Oct 1. monday, Labor Day. out @ y: everything wet. Got 10 quail lost 4 crippled missed 3 & 1 blackbl. 18 shells. Got dog & got 4 more r missed 3 reidkys 3. Saw a yrl. flicker on F. Y. R.R. track r was about 2 got a pot shot when 2 reds scared him. (Got 1 of quail in Smiths corn & 1 in pasture lost 1 hit twice after which I climbed rd. f. dog didn't see it drop r it got away. Appears 2 to a hen with patches white on back. Got 2 cocks on wing at same time with each bl. These 2 only flew from high st over osage hedge. Killed 1st 1 velog got 2d. a young brood flushed from wards N.E. corner orchard for last years best patch singled out 1 dropped it. Oct 5 Got 4 quail. 1 in F. Y. pine
