1894 nest containing 3 Eggs at Talcott. Promised to get it for me. 7/15 Went swimming muffed 2 Barn Swallows over water. Went out with young Reef in sailboat to mud cape & got 1 bbl. into flock sandpipers & 2d. bbl as they rose. Dog got 15 & killed 3 wounded. about 8 that fell on water had drifted toward Clark's by time clog got the 15 that they were out of eight sticks too low. to venture after them. Saw band of 44 or 46 quail, 2 pair old ones & brood was 2 sizes, by my house. 8/15 1st shot Cliff Swallow. 2d. N. Savan- nah Sparrow. 3d, 4th, 45 missed at Cliff Swallows, 7th got 1. Allon wings, in meadow pasture racross creek. Hoots N. W. Pewer's around oak S. of stable oak S. of stable tank: seems to be as brood shot yet broken ranks. See that female Fairbanks Woodpecker very often; no males. Saw & heard R.-S. Flickers
