3/18 5 robs. 8 shells, including 1 fired @ 2 flickers which didnt kill. Saw a blue-back sharpshin S.R.V. twice but too wary. Townsends Spar. here yet. Robs nearly all gone. 3/23 Saw an or. Snowbel., late. 3/26 " " " " " Townsends Sparrow appear to be moultig (Shot none). 3/24 6 robs, 1 lark on wing in meadow. fired 12 shots. Found S.R.V. dead robs. lately as many are hit not retrieved. 3/25 fired 6 shots & all successful. 3 rob. 1 rared, 1 young rabbit in long-berry briars 1 young hare as he ran toward me on path N. of lawn. 3/26 Red Hummers on F.T. fence evidently nesting. Anna's collecting willow cotton along R.R. track. Found tail of a red hummer (pointed ends) eaten from body by a cat, by front door of stable, also remains of a C.B. Towhrr I'm sure in that had met same fate. 4/1 Few robins here yet. Shot my eagle that got loose yesterday. See "Fowl" Book.
