Got a laccers hole & tried in every way 2 dislodge him, then took a shot at him & got a female flicker. 4" feathers @ long range from a varied r. top hollow oak off. 8's 5", 1 quail +grx where. 6th mis- sed a flickr in rain by centre apric- ot, rising as he flew to me: didn't lead enough. 7th fthrs from a robin in plums not far off. 8th 2 varius from plum in bed by apple oak 9th female flicker on apple tree, 10th lost a hit jay on tallest pine just n. of tennis. 11th 1 q. in cypress off. E. of towhee briars & 2 more by gate, & hit 4 more, 1 on wing, making 17 shots. 12/3 Borrowed Bill's #10 & got 1 varied in pines at beginning of gravel road. 2nd shot 1 robin, locust W. of tennis, lost 3rd " toth quail oak w. side.
