May.21-1905: Goldfinches - many seen in willows along river - 3 nests - 1 with egg - 2 with eggs - one incubated and one fresh. The Blackbirds are eating all of the kernels of the heads of the barley that has volunteered on my alfalfa patch, there being no other ripe grain in the vicinity. May.22-1905: I discovered today the song of the Yellowthroat and although I have often heard it before did not connect it with this bird. A & was seen today singing at close range. 1906. A.D. Jan.21-1906. A Rails has been about the house all day today - flying first from one cover to another as it was disturbed. It was first seen running about the chicken yard with the chickens. This is the first instance I have known of ones being seen about my house
